Frequently Asked Questions
01MM2H or PVIP?
Choose PVIP if business or employment flexibility is essential; choose MM2H when long-term residence is the main goal.
Within MM2H, only Platinum currently permits business and career activities. Compare the fixed deposit, property requirement, pass period and total cost before deciding.

Start with what you plan to do in Malaysia. Work or business needs point first to PVIP or MM2H Platinum, while residence-focused applicants can also consider Gold, Silver and SEZ/SFZ.
Then compare age, duration, financial commitment, property requirements and family needs.

Budget for more than the application fee. Your total plan may include programme and government charges, agency fees, dependant costs, a fixed deposit and any required property purchase.
Keep payable fees separate from financial commitments that remain your assets. Use the MM2H cost calculator or PVIP cost calculator for a programme-specific estimate.

Yes, eligible family members can be included. The programmes recognise a spouse, biological children, stepchildren, adopted children and medically certified disabled children; parents or parents-in-law are also allowed in the current MM2H categories.
Older children must meet age, marital-status and employment conditions, and dependant categories differ by programme.

Only under a programme that permits it. Compare PVIP and MM2H Platinum first because they are the two options in Move2MY's current comparison that allow business and employment activities.
Gold, Silver and SEZ/SFZ are designed for residence, not working or conducting business in Malaysia.
Related toolCompare All Visas06Can MM2H or PVIP Be Converted to PR?
No. MM2H and PVIP cannot be converted into Malaysian permanent residence.
Permanent residence is a separate immigration status with its own eligibility requirements and application process. Holding a long-term visa does not provide or guarantee PR eligibility.
